Many, many fabulous Christmas lunches and dinners will be held this Christmas season at London’s iconic restaurants such as The Ivy with its fabulous private room for 60 (not to mention spin offs – Market Grill and Brasserie which also have private rooms), Rules where the Graham Greene room has hosted decadent parties for up to 18 since 1798 and The Savoy Grill where Gordon Ramsay’s D’Oyly Carte seats 40 for gorgeous grills and more.

Consider RSA House, a gorgeous venue steeped in history which has private dining options for parties from 20 – 130. Massimo Bar & Restaurant in the Corinthia hotel offers a fabulous chef’s table with its own kitchen for 20 guests. For a festive experience to remember, the chef will prepare dishes in front of guests, showcasing fine seasonal Italian dishes such as seafood and pasta. There’s no room hire, but a minimum spend of £2,000.

For a wonderfully exclusive Christmas celebration, Margot has a private Club Room where up to 32 guests can savour chef Maurizio Morelli’s regional and seasonal classic Italian cuisine while indulging in the restaurant’s 360-strong wine list.

Over at Browns Courtrooms there are four striking private spaces available for hire. Try the Judge’s Court or Chamber or the Barrister’s Court for lunch and dinners between 40 and 100 and revel in the imposing legal décor, as well as being able to admonish any bad-behaviour with a spell in the dock! The Bronze festive menu starts at £39.95 for three courses, with a five course Silver menu at £44.95 and a six course Gold menu at £49.95.

We also love Delaunay, where the elegant oak panelled private room seats up to 24 combined for that intimate feel to a party. Whether for lunch or dinner, there’s plenty of natural daylight and also views into the main restaurant for added buzz-factor. There’s no room hire, but a minimum spend does apply.

Fabulous Festive Fun

Glamorous New York import Balthazar is a striking venue to hold a festive feast. With its own private entrance, the first floor private room seats up to 60 guests who can enjoy their distinctly flamboyant upmarket French brasserie style cuisine. Menus start from £50 for three courses including petit fours.

The delicious modern contemporary Indian cuisine of Mint Leaf can be enjoyed in their three private rooms for parties of 20, 30 and even 60 guests in the Jaipur Room. With menus served in the traditional Indian sharing style, it’s conducive to having fun and chatter – no matter what the work crowd’s like! Menus start at £40, rising to £70 per person and there’s also a full vegetarian option menu.

For a splendid Spanish feast, Barrafina on Drury Lane delivers a truly special lunch or dinner in its private room for up to 24 guests. Specialising in regional and seasonal Spanish food reflective of the cultural family dining style, the room is sleek and modern yet comfortable and relaxed. Menus are seasonal and subject to change but start at around £40 a head.

Situated on the first floor of the romantic Clos Maggiore is a warm and welcoming private room for up to 23 guests. With its fabulous location it’s a top venue to enjoy delicious, carefully sourced modern European dishes. Their Christmas menus offer a three course lunch at £49 per person, a three course dinner (also available for lunch) at £59 and a five course seasonal tasting menu created by head chef Marcellin Marc at £75. Wine pairings are also available (Classic £40 or Prestige £100 per person).

Have some dim sum fun and festive indulgence in Ping Pong’s private room for parties of up to 36 guests. Set in modern Chinese interiors with dim sum and much more on the menu there are also plenty of cocktails at the cocktail bar. This venue has a perma-buzz that only gets buzzier during the Christmas period and it’s great value too with menus around £45 per person including drinks.

Gastro pubs, Wine & Cocktail Bars

Just off Trafalgar Square The Clarence is a ‘traditional pub’ with more than a touch of elegance thrown in. This carefully designed homage to the ‘Best of British’ offers The Beefeater Room for parties up to 40 – a stone’s throw from the many departments in Whitehall who need to let their hair down! Christmas menus packed with traditional favourites start at £37.50 for 3 festive courses.

Private Dining Room at Bunghole Cellars, London West End

Part of the renowned Davy’s wine merchants, Bunghole Cellars can combine its two private rooms for 12 and 15 to cater for up to 30 guests. The warm and welcoming atmosphere is enhanced by the great value Christmas menu with two courses for £29.95 and three courses at £34.95. Festive offers include 20% off the bill for bookings between 20 and 28^th November as well six bottles for the price of five for wine ordered in advance.

Or if it’s cocktails you’re after Smith & Wollensky just off The Strand has a variety of private dining options where you can enjoy their USDA steaks and fabulous drinks. The Theodore Roosevelt room seats 50 and comes with its own private bar, while the Churchill and Liberty rooms seat 38 combined and are often used for a reception followed by drinks. Christmas menus start at £58 per person and include options of turkey or shortrib with other steak cuts optional extras.

River Revelry

And don’t forget, there’s always a boat on the River Thames if you fancy Decking the halls (groan). The RS Hispaniola holds up to 170 people or smaller groups of 120 or 50 on just one deck while the permanently moored (no-seasickness!) steamer The Yacht has four individual private spaces for lunches and dinners for between 30 and 100 guests. Festive packages for Hispaniola start at £40 per person, while the Yacht’s begin at around £30.
