3 Must Visit Michelin Star Restaurants In London
One of my favourite questions to be asked is “where should I hold my event?”. Of course it’s a question with no single right answer and prompts a myriad of other follow-on questions, such as what type of dinner or lunch are you looking to hold, is it a business meeting, romantic dinner, a party for friends or a significant birthday? The options are endless.
As one of the world’s gastronomic capitals, many questions relate to Michelin starred restaurants in London, with event organisers wanting a private room for their event and also to provide a top gastronomic experience. With no less than 50 restaurants in London with one Michelin star, nine with two Michelin stars and two with three Michelin stars, the choice can be confusing.
So here’s my pick of three top Michelin starred restaurants in London that also have fabulous private rooms, which are guaranteed to deliver on ambience as well as gastronomy.
Hélène Darozze at The Connaught, Mayfair
Having had a Christmas wedding myself, the two Michelin starred Hélène Darozze in Mayfair’s iconic Connaught hotel is a must. The private room is one of the most stunningly elegant drawing rooms in the capital, with stunning leaded windows, antique mirrors, original fireplace and ornate cornicing. The room, for up to 20 guests, perfectly combines elegance with romance, while the food is also guaranteed to blow you away –a must for a Christmas wedding.
Sketch, Mayfair
Then there’s Sketch – which I just love. In the heart of Mayfair, there’s something so mad and unpredictable about it, even after all these years. It never fails to create a wow factor from its eclectic décor – the room themes jump from highbrow elegance in the Library to woodland nymphs and boudoir, and then the loos add another dimension altogether which are always guaranteed to get guests chatting. With four rooms catering for parties from 15 – 50, and now with two Michelin stars, I’ve found it also always delivers on the plate.
The River Cafe, Hammersmith
Finally, I’d recommend a trip out to the ‘burbs for The River Café in Hammersmith. This iconic west London restaurant has held a Michelin star for years but has a more relaxed Italian trattoria feel than most, while the food consistently remains a cut above the rest. The modern private room, for up to 18, not only encompasses the cheese cellar, but also has access to the outside courtyard for any parties able to take advantage of mild evenings. I particularly love the River Café’s antipasti starters, which can be arranged as canapés during a stand up reception or on shared platters at the table – guaranteed to break the ice.
