The Best Private Dining Rooms for New Year’s Eve Parties In London
Forget throwing a dinner party at home or attending some massive ticketed bash – why not host a wonderfully intimate extravaganza in one of London’s fabulous private rooms and truly enjoy seeing in the New Year with friends and family.
Rooms with a view
The Capital’s fireworks are a big draw on this, very special night and many rooms with views are already booked (yes seriously!), so you need to get booking these ones fast.
Our top tips are chic City Social which offers two private rooms – the Chef’s Table for an intimate 10 guests or the larger private dining room for between 15 – 25. With great views of London and a perfect position to see the fireworks, this is sure to make any New Year’s Eve event sparkle. The special menu for the night is £180 per person for a glass of champagne on arrival, five course dinner, tea and coffee.
With a private room for up to 50 guests, the iconic Nobu on Park Lane’s Japanese with Peruvian influenced menu is always a winner and always feels appropriately extravagant for New Year. A special Omakase menu is available from 29th for dinner and on 30th and New Year’s Eve for lunch and dinner. Cost is £120 for food only (£75 vegetarian option) and includes sashimi, assorted sushi, roast king crab, Wagyu beef and a fabulous chocolate and mango mousse with banana sponge for dessert.
The team at Galvin have a plethora of different menus for New Year’s Eve – with Galvin at Windows hosting a Michelin-starred mega extravaganza with a six-course menu including truffled brie and lobster, an orchestral accompaniment and of course, fabulous views of the fireworks (£495 per person). Equally Galvin-esque but a little less pricey is the New Year’s Eve menu at the atmospheric Grade II listed old school chapel, Galvin La Chapelle at £199 per person. The semi-private Gallery can host 30 for this fabulous dinner.
Casual elegance
L’Etoile on Charlotte Street provides a home-from-home experience – well the home we wish we had! – with five beautifully decorated French salons to choose from for parties of between 10 and 38. With three different set menus to choose from starting at £28.95 for three courses with tea and coffee, plus options at £32.95 & £35.95 and a Christmas menu at £39.95, the restaurant is also happy to create a bespoke package for the night on request.
Smith & Wollensky has three private dining rooms for between 20-50 guests. Private dining menus start at £45 per person for 3 courses and guests will be able to enjoy the live music by Rat Pack tribute band – Frank & Dean for a singalong to New York New York – for an extra £25 / head.
Brasserie
Get right in the thick of the action at Covent Garden stalwart Tuttons, where the private rooms available for hire for 18 or 28 (seated) with special New Year’s Eve menus – yet to be confirmed. What is for sure though, is that there’ll be a big ol’ party in the piazza outside and it’s just a stone’s throw from all the action in Trafalgar Square if your party fancies a late-night stroll.
Whether it’s Tower Hill, Threadneedle Street, Fulham or Southbank, Brasserie Blanc has a sumptuous classic French menu for New Year’s Eve – a special four course meal featuring main course options of steak frites, pheasant or mushroom lasagne for £69.50 per person. Venues need to be contacted directly for private room bookings and menus and price may be subject to changes.
Aubaine has a variety of excellent venues, and the one within Hilton hotel on Hyde Park is fantastic for a New Year’s Eve Celebration. It’s Opulent Room seats up to 76 guests and although there are festive menus ranging from canape at £2.50 each to 3 or 4 course meals from £38 per person or a sharing option at £40 per person, they are also planning to offer a special menu for the night (watch this space!)
Themed Fun
Some people just like a theme – so why not party this New Year’s Eve in pirate style at Big Easy in Canary Wharf. With BBQ Blow out, Surf n Turf, Seafood Deluxe menus all available at the Captain’s Table for up to 26 guests, it’s crying out for a fabulous Pirates of the Caribbean themed-party and guaranteed to rock with the Rum Bar music, heated balcony areas, fabulous cocktail slushies and more. Menus start at just £35 per person.
Or go for a hula at Trader Vic’s with a tropical Polynesian-style party in the Tiki room for up to 30 guests. Say ‘Aloha!’ to your guests with a glass of Pommery champagne on arrival and indulge in a sumptuous four course dinner with filet of beef, rack of lamb, and cocktails for £126 per person.
