The Private Dining Room at Restaurant Mark Greenaway boasts stunning Georgian features including an exposed stone whisky wall offset by unique art installations and opulent finishes. With space for 6-14 guests the restaurant offers everything from a day delegate package to a full tasting menu experience showcasing Greenaway’s signature dishes and passion for Scottish ingredients. For lunch guests can choose from the market menu (2 courses/£24 or 3/£30) or the four course menu (also available at dinner) for £50 and the 8 course tasting menu for £75.

Arguably Edinburgh’s culinary pin-up boy, Tom Kitchin’s restaurant offers a private dining room for up to 20 guests to enjoy his inspirational multi-award-winning, Michelin-starred cuisine embodying his ethos of seasonal cooking showcasing from nature to plate. For dinner they offer the tasting menu (£85 per person with matching wines £65) while for lunch the set menu is also available at a cracking value £33 per person for 3 courses. For dinner a £1,500 minimum spend and deposit apply.

This quirky five star hotel offers a wide variety of private rooms catering for parties from 14 in the Louis Stevenson and Walter Scott rooms to 30 for a reception on the mezzanine, 60 in the Observatory and up to 80 in the Carlton Suite with its stunning 2 acres of rooftop garden. With one private dining room for up to 10 guests, Ondine offers both a la carte and set menus for guests to enjoy around the round table. It’s large glass door has views up the stairs to the main restaurant but is ideal for intimate birthday parties and business dinners. Our top tip however is the set menus available for lunch and pre-theatre (5.30 – 6.30) with 2 courses for £19 or three courses for £24. The minimum spend is just £10 per person.
Kyloe

With space for 16 seated or 40 for a drink and canapé reception, Kyloe’s private room oozes elegance with mahogany finishes and plush upholstery – the ideal setting to enjoy their fabulous steaks with menus coming in around £40 per person. A separate lounge is the perfect spot for pre or post dinner drinks, while the Bluetooth and apple TV connectivity enable all manner of AV requirements from presentations to music streaming. Set in a beautiful 17th century building the venue is set on two floors which can be used for private dining events. Chanters on the lower floor provides a warm and relaxed space ideal for larger parties and celebrating special events for 30. And their best kept secret – The Halo room for 2-4 people with a floor to ceiling window floating above the Close outside. Set menus start at £17.50 for lunch and £32 for 2 courses and £40 for three courses or a four course tasting menu with smaller portions.
Timberyard

Named due to its origins as a warehouse dating back to the 19th century Timberyard offers The Outhouse with wood-burning stove for parties of up to 10 and the main dining area, The Warehouse which can also be hired for private events is ideal for up to 80 guests. Often used for wedding receptions, guests can build their own menu with canapés starting at £3, bites from £5, small plates £15 and large plates £25 or for other private events the four course set menu costs £55 per person or 6 course menu is £66.
The Pompadour by Galvin
French
Situated in Edinburgh’s iconic Waldorf Astoria hotel, The Pompadour’s private room is next to the main restaurant and can seat 20 or host 30 for standing receptions. Guests can enjoy the fabulous cuisine from the Galvin brothers with a menu tailored by executive chef Fraser Allen. For larger events the whole venue can be hired for up to 100 guests. Event menus are currently being revamped.
Martin Wishart – The Honours
Brasserie
Naturally split into sections, the 60-cover brasserie can host up to 10 guests in a semi-private area. It’s possible for guests to eat from the a la carte, choose the group dining 3 course set menu for £45 or The Honours 5 course Table Menu packed with seasonally changing signature dishes for £60. The restaurant can also be hired exclusively with a minimum charge of £45 x 60 guests (£2,700).

Once again HdV have found a home in a unique building – this time a former city asylum. The quirkily named Burke & Hare private room seats up to 36 guests, while Bedlam can host up to 12 and boasts a terrace and original domed ceiling. Top tip – informal receptions for around 40 can be held in the Whisky snug which is ideal for cosy winter gatherings with its fireplace, leather chairs and sumptuous sofas. With four bedrooms and two private dining rooms, private dining at 21212 is perfect for family get-togethers, business lunches and dinners, as well as special occasions. With a Michelin starred menu, ATE can seat 10 and has a distinctly different feel to the main restaurant with traditional fireplace, cornicing and Italian furniture as well as tranquil garden views. The smaller Pod is truly unique, hosting up to six guests on a circular cream leather banquette and is separated from other diners by a fine veil.

This former seaman’s mission boasts stunning views over the harbour and five private spaces for events from 10 people seated to 100 for standing receptions. Mal One, Two, Three and Five can accommodate 10 to 45 people while the stunning Mal Four, with huge windows, can seat 60.
