Handily, there are plenty of fantastic venues in this gloriously accessible county, and top of the bill will always be Raymond Blanc’s iconic Manoir aux Quat’ Saisons. It’s held two Michelin stars forever and over the years has scooped pretty much every award available. The beauty of Le Manoir lies in its impeccably sourced, seasonal gastronomy, perfect for up to 50 guests to enjoy in La Belle Epoque private dining room.
Barton House, Wantage
A delightfully restored Georgian family home, Barton House offers two private rooms – The Garden Room and The Dining Room – for 30 guests or 60 combined. The family run operation sees Executive Chef Tom Sherry heading up the kitchen, using seasonal produce much of which is produced from his own kitchen garden. Varying minimum spends do apply but the team create a personalised plan for each event with a bespoke menu designed for your party by Tom.
The Oxford Kitchen, Summertown
Often dubbed ‘the best restaurant in Oxford’, The Oxford Kitchen offers a first floor private dining room for up to 30 guests, the entire first floor for parties up to 55 or an exclusive restaurant hire groups of 80. Menus on offer include the three course Set Lunch Menu – a bargain at £27.50 to a six course Chef’s Tasting Menu for £65 a head. Bowl food, bespoke menus and wine pairings are also available on request.
Malmaison, Oxford
Set in a castle and former prison, this Malmaison hotel offers a multitude of atmospheric private dining spaces, from former cells which host parties of between 10 – 35 guests, to The Atrium for 140 (seated), the Visitors Room for 100 and The Rooftop Terrace for 150 (both standing). Meeting packages and team activities are also available on request.
Portobello Restaurant, Summertown
This modern British brasserie offers a private room for 36 (seated or 50 for standing receptions) above the main restaurant. Portobello has three course set menus starting at £24.95, but banqueting menus are also available featuring suckling pig, lobster & shellfish or seasonal game – when available. Canapé menus start at £12.95 per person.
The White Horse, Kings Sutton
The White Horse boasts a Michelin listing, 2 AA rosettes and a chef’s table away from the hustle and bustle of the main restaurant. This intimate private dining room seats just 6 guests. Our top tip is the Hendrik’s tasting menu – a quirky & delicious showcase of the chef patron’s career in dishes.
Wild Thyme, Chipping Norton
Wild Thyme offers a light and airy garden room for up to 14 people (Tuesday – Saturday) or exclusive use of the whole restaurant for parties of up to 35 (Monday – Saturday). Serving modern British food with Mediterranean influences, the restaurant is deal for family celebrations, weddings, Christmas parties and corporate lunches as the team work with guests to create bespoke menus for events with wines to match.
The Nut Tree, Murcott
With a Michelin star since 2008 and ranking no.17 in top UK Gastropubs 2018, The Nut Tree offers that elusive pub feel with fine food. Private dining is available for up to 36 guests and day conferencing is also offered from Tuesday to Friday.
Mr Hanbury’s Mason Arms, South Leigh
Mr Hanbury’s Mason Arms offers an eclectic style of traditional English inn with a dining room and bar for exclusive use and private parties for up to 40 for drinks parties in the bar and 40 for seated dinners in the dining room. Hand-crafted cocktails, tasting menus, feasting menus, bespoke dinners canapes or social boards are all party options on offer.
The White Hart, Fyfield
With three private rooms available beautifully restored The Grade II listed White Hart can seat up to 15 in the Minstrel’s Gallery, 10-32 in the Chantry Room and between 8-12 in the Cellar Room, although they also offer the main restaurant for hire for groups of up to 45.
With a seasonally changing three course set menu at £32 per person, this multi-award-winning restaurant boasts the Open Table Diners Choice Award 2018 as well as listings in Michelin and the Good Food Guide.
The Wild Rabbit, Kingham
Part of the Daylesford Estate, adjacent to The Wild Rabbit’s main dining room is the Chicken Shed, a stunningly modern take on Cotswold luxury, with its own wood fired oven and dedicated staff.
With room for up to 20 guests, menus feature the estates fabulous locally sourced organic produce and there’s even a cookery school to enjoy either pre or post dining.
Hotel du Vin, Henley on Thames
This delightful Hotel du Vin is set moments back from the River Thames and boasts three private dining rooms for 40 – 100 guests. The Ruinart room seats 100 and features original ironwork as well as a bespoke mural. For smaller events, the Henley Vineyards Private Dining room caters for 50 and the Canata room for 40, the latter has exposed beams and a fabulously dramatic mezzanine floor making it ideal for drinks receptions.
