Opened in 1983, in historic, and many believe, haunted Bleeding Heart Yard, Bleeding Heart is still privately owned and operated by its founders Robert and Robyn Wilson.

Private dining in London at Bleeding Heart

For over 40 years, their private dining rooms, seating from 12 to 120 guests, have been the City’s first choice for client-entertaining, business meetings, banquets, weddings, special birthdays and anniversaries, wine tastings and any event that calls for a celebration where a warm welcome and impeccable service are de rigeur.

Ideally situated, midway between the City and London’s West End, Bleeding Heart Yard is but a three-minute walk from Farringdon Station and the Elizabeth line, or five from Chancery Lane station.

Its venues are unrivalled in their diversity: four individually decorated private dining rooms in, around and adjoining the historic Yard.

In 1626, Bleeding Heart Yard was the scene of the gruesome murder of the 17th-century society heiress, the beautiful but wayward Lady Elizabeth Hatton, who was found at daybreak one January morning, murdered by a spurned lover, alleged to be a noted European ambassador. Her heart was, they say, still pumping blood onto the ancient cobblestones, and thus the Yard was named.

Some say the ghost of Lady Hatton can be seen on chill January nights trying to scrub her blood off the ancient cobblestones.

Bleeding Heart’s experienced and personable Private Events Team will help you choose which private room will provide the right setting for your event, whether it is a breakfast, lunch, dinner or simply Champagne and a selection of their fabulous canapés.

Executive Chef Andrew Barber will be delighted to discuss your particular dining needs and can create a Bespoke menu for your party while the wine team can choose the wines, the aperitifs and the digestifs to match that menu.

If you are looking for very a special corporate event, they can add The Wine Experience Dinner, with a themed wine selection presented by an entertaining professional wine commentator or Master of Wine.
